LAKE DAY

Last week for Friday Fun Day, we went to Saguaro Lake with friends (and their boat). This trip has become an annual tradition and is one of our favorite summer activities. We spent a few hours on the lake, riding on tubes, eating tons of snacks, and enjoying our time together. My littlest little took quite the tumble off of the banana boat (we got momentarily caught underneath), but after a short rest on the boat, she hopped back on with a big smile on her face. I've got a couple of seriously brave kids. So fun.

365.3: WEEK 23

We have settled into our summer routine and things are starting to move along nicely. I'm THAT mom - the one that schedules everything down to the minute. But with six kids it's a NEED. Our summer so far: Swimming with cousins. Stressing over yet another series of tests and increasing medical costs. Playing at the splash pad. Taking an afternoon nap. Boating with friends at the lake. Picking out a treat for awesome behavior. Reading on a Sunday afternoon.

June 4th - June 10th

SWEET SUMMER

Last weekend, we kicked off the first full week of summer by going to Bahama Bucks. Each week during the summer, my littles have the opportunity to earn fun adventures that we like to call Friday Fun Days. Since we were still working out the kinks in our summer schedule, we decided to make our first activity a simple (but sweet) one. All six were able to earn their own Hawaiian shaved ice due to the good behavior that they had exhibited throughout the week (the oldest four were even able to go up a size because they spent an entire afternoon helping me wash our car). We love activities like this (and not just because we basically fill up an entire punch card on one visit).

FINDING SCORPIONS

Okay, totally misleading title. If we were literally finding scorpions in my house, we wouldn't BE in my house. We'd be finding a new house... That being said, my middle boy is OBSESSED with the creatures. It is quite strange. But I try not to dissuade interests, so I bought him a bug dig kit for his birthday that came in the shape of - you guessed it - a scorpion. Once the [literal] dust from camping had settled, we busted out the dig kit and gave it a go. The recent birthday boy was even kind enough to share his gift and allow everyone a turn at digging for bugs (possibly at the urging of a parent). National Geographic makes some awesome toys.
