LAND OF ENCHANTMENT

NEW MEXICO. When the older two missed out on Texas, I told them that I would make up for it by taking just the two of them to Carlsbad Caverns. So with maybe a week's worth of notice and planning, we set out over the weekend for the longest short roadtrip ever (or shortest long roadtrip ever?). 2 days. 34 hours total. 18 hours of driving. 1,174 miles. 2 national parks. So many memories. Things I want to remember:

"VROOOOOM" (my oldest was a little slap happy while in the car) * speeding ticket at the NM stateline (oops) * our little car-bee friend, Harold Juan Gregory * WHITE SANDS NATIONAL PARK * finding mountains in NM! * Cloudcroft in all its beauty * seeing snow after playing in the sand * elk * deer * spotting Taco Bell (boys first choice) after pulling out of the drive-thru at Arby's * our awesome hotel room in Carlsbad * CARLSBAD CAVERNS * mountain goats * BBQ for lunch in El Paso * successfully driving over 1,000 miles in two days by myself
