Seriously. Falling behind again. I have a bunch of photos to post from during the teacher walkout, but I just haven't had the time to edit them. I've been dealing with health issues instead. And moving my preschool classroom from the toy room to the front room of my house. Plus, you know, the six. And end of the school year events. ALL OF THE THINGS. Normally, I do well despite the chaos. But my health and lack of sleep have really slowed me down. But more on that later. Last week was slow to start, but nonstop by the end of the week. Bathing beauty. Devouring jello popcorn. Looking at magazines. Starring in a play. Beginning medical tests. Painting the new preschool classroom. Celebrating Mother's Day.
We survived, hands down, one of the most chaotic weeks of the school year. This was done through a lot of play, a lot of friends, and a lot of food. I have a separate post in the making dedicated to what we did during the teacher walkout to stay busy. But last week. Running wild in the backyard. Playing with a neighbor's new puppy. Sharing popcorn and cotton candy at the zoo. Enjoying ice cream cones. Visiting Butterfly Wonderland on a field trip. Swinging at a piƱata on Cinco de Mayo. Looking at maps in the scriptures at church.
If you live in Arizona and have children, chances are that you were SOMEHOW affected by the teacher walkout. Guess what. I don't really care to hear your [likely longwinded] opinion on it. All you need to know is that I support my children's teachers 100%. These four fabulous women are shaping my children into amazing, little humans with the help of a speech specialist, a gifted & talented teacher, teaching assistants, playground and classroom aids, specialty teachers, and support staff. So you better believe that I wore red A LOT throughout April. I stood at the school and I stood at the capital because that's where they were, too, despite YEARNING to be in the classroom. I communicated with several of them throughout the duration of the walkout and offered continue support and encouragement. I simply cannot convey how much love and respect I have for all of the educators and staff members at my children's school. So here are our REDFORED pictures.
If you are on social media, you got a big dose of Leigh last week. I had a ridiculously intense anxiety attack at the doctor's office, which resulted in me being a hot mess. Things are fine and I'm no worse for wear, but I was NOT ready to hear that I need a slew of tests by a specialist because, well... money. time. energy. Things that I don't have to spare. Then again, health. So I am sucking it up and moving forward with the prescribed tests. I AM FINE. Just to be clear. But having an autoimmune disease means that I probably should have been seeing a specialist like a decade ago. Not even kidding. Oops. Last week. Ditching her afternoon nap. Crying over a doctor's appointment. Supporting our teachers. Marching to the Arizona State Capitol. Gearing up for Fathers & Sons campout. Doting on the girls while the boys are away. Taking the oldest to the Capitol for RedforEd.
Just shy of two weeks ago, it hit 100° in Arizona. Welcome to the start of summer. To celebrate survive, we headed over to my parents' house for the first swim of the year - complete with popsicles and all. While the youngest two were independent swimmers by the end of last summer, it's going to take a few swims to get those floats back off. Meanwhile, the big kids were in heaven flying off the edge of the pool. Me? I only got in waist deep and spent a majority of time in my parents' new hot tub. Because I am a pansy...
365 photos. Picking up the littles after school. Anxiety attack/overwhelming exhaustion. Wearing red to support our teachers. Working on the crossword with Papa. Fender bender. Running another PR for Pat's Run. Celebrating Earth Day.
I swear, there are not enough hours in the day for all of the things that I want/need to do. I aim to edit and upload my 365 images on Monday, but it's generally at the expense of some other task that needs to be accomplished. This is why I never sleep... Our week. Climbing up the slide. Coloring in our coloring books. Eating popsicles before the first swim of the season. Reading books at the library. Waiting for sodas at The Soda Shop. Heading off to Cub Scout day camp. Crying over a broken necklace.
