CAMP ROOTISHAW
We have an annual tradition of kicking off summer with a camping trip. This year, we braved camping over Memorial Day weekend with some friends - and really lucked out. We headed up to Flagstaff Saturday morning with a spot in mind, but were sad to see that "our spot" was already taken. After exploring a little further, we found a perfect place to camp that was pretty secluded. We had a blast! Our friends introduced our kids to archery (which may need to become a staple for future camping trips). And we showed them just how fun hammocks are while camping. We ate s'mores. We went on walks. We built an epic fort. We had a pinecone war. We even found a porcupine (but no pictures with my camera since I was not anticipating a wild animal encounter that moment). There's always stress surrounding camping trips, but the benefits far outweigh any difficulties.
